Robert Thornton had a 105 average and secured a win over
Dave Chisnal. Thornton hit a record 9, 180s and would make you wonder where
exactly this form came from as you did not see it earlier in the league. This
was only his second win of the tournament.
A result here that suits both Raymond van Barnavelle and
Phil Taylor as this match was a very close draw. Why this suits Van Barnavelle
is because it assures him of a play off. It also helps Taylor as his puts him
in a strong position in the play offs. This game was quite low quality at the
start but when it picked up anything could go. Raymond van Barnavelle did lead
5-3 but Phil Taylor did bring it back to 5-5 and was able to get that vital
final leg to assure the draw. Barney might have a few problems as he was not
able to kill off this match
Gary Anderson was much the better player against the best
player in the league this year Micheal Van Gerwin in this match he was 10 point
up in the averages and Anderson was able to get into a position of comfort
leading 5-2 but Michael Van Gerwin was able to bring it back to 5-4 and at this
stage the darts were even at late 90s but Gary Anderson did get the winning leg
to help his play off hopes. This was Micheal Van Gerwins first match without a
180
Peter Wright was able to seal a point in this very nervy
match against Adrian Lewis. Neither had any real form going into this match and
with the way that they were finishing on the doubles you could see why. Adrian
Lewis was able to get a 2 leg lead but Peter Wright should be able to get some
form of confidence from this match.
Phil Taylor has put his own future in the premiere league in
his own hands after a 7-3 win over Dave Cisnal. Taylor lead 5-1 and there never
seemed to be any type of hope of Chisnal getting into this match. Phil had a
107 average Chisnal never got higher than the mid 90s but did take a leg of
Taylors own throw. Taylor has a play off match coming up in his next match win
it and he is through to the semi finals
